Description
The Capital Region’s hometown fair, Aug. 17-22, features midway rides, the Royal Hanneford Circus, racing pigs, Master Hypnotist Michael DeSchalit, live music, demolition derbies, exhibits, livestock events, horse shows, Dynamo Dogs, a petting zoo, exotic reptiles, Chainsaw Carver Jennifer Black, lumberjack show, Blue Ribbon Cooking Center activities, Belgian Draft Horse Exhibit, Altamont Country Store, demonstrations, competitions, favorite fair food and more.
Fair highlights include 4-H Llama Show (2 pm), Miss Altamont Fair Pageant (4 pm), Geezer band (8 pm) Tuesday; Ice Cream Social (3 pm), Black Mountain Symphony (6:30 pm), Demolition Derby (7 pm) Wednesday; Equine Competition (10 am), Skeeter Creek (8 pm), Fireworks (dusk) Thursday; Goat Costume Competition (4 pm), Lawnmower Pulls (7 pm), Get Up Jack band (8 pm) Friday; 4-H Master Showmen Show (3 pm), Power Wheels Demo Derby (6 pm), Big Sky Country (8 pm) Saturday; Tae Lewis country music (1 pm), Demolition Derby (2 pm), Grit N Whiskey (6 pm) Sunday.
Pay-one-price admission (includes rides, shows, attractions, exhibits, and parking) is $22 on-site, $18 online pre-sale, and free Wednesday, with ID, for seniors 65 and older, Grange members, active military, and veterans. Children under 36 inches tall are admitted free (no rides; kiddie playground available).
Gates open at noon Tuesday and 10 am Wednesday – Sunday (8 am for livestock events) on the Altamont Fairgrounds at 129 Grand Street. Midway hours: 2-10 pm Tuesday, noon-10pm Wednesday – Thursday, noon-11pm Friday – Saturday, noon-8pm Sunday
